Our day one consists of prepping the floor by removing old flooring, either concrete grinding or shot blasting the floor to agitate the concrete.
While we are grinding or shot blasting we have a large shop vac attached to the grinder or shot blaster to keep from creating a large amount of dust. Next we go through and patch all large cracks and fill all holes with concrete patch filler. We then let the patch filler dry and agitate it using a hand grinder. Next we apply painters tape and plastic to the areas that are not supposed to have epoxy on them and apply the epoxy base coat. Once the epoxy base coat is applied we spread the flake until the floor is evenly covered, then we remove the painters tape on the edges. Once the epoxy is cured enough we go back and scrape the floor with a floor scraper to remove all of the loose flake.
Here at Purple Cow Ames Junk Removal and Home Services after we have scraped the floors we either blow all of the flakes off using a blow gun and air compressor or using a clean broom. Next we put down new painters tape and apply the polyurea top clear coat, this requires 2 people so we can see the floor from many different angles and do not end up with squeegee lines in the floor. Next we remove the painters tape again and wait for the clear coat to completely cure.
